Putting
Tip 6.
Wildly different putters abound: long one, bent ones,
and ones with funny shaped heads. New and varied
techniques are just as plentiful: look at the hole,
close one eye (even both eyes), putt cross-handed.
Certainly there is merit in some of these, and some are
likely to help in the short term. but none of them
eliminate the need for the solid physical and mental
fundamentals that lead to being a good putter.
The
psychological challenge is to beware of heightened
expectations based on fads. Builds your game on solid
foundation. If an innovation comes along that seem to
work, go with it for a while, but don't be surprised if
its effectiveness disappears as quickly as it appeared.
Improvement based on fundamentals and hard work will
endure, but sudden success based on novelty can be just
as fleeting as the newness of the equipment or technique
which created the success.
