Golf Putting Instructions and Tips -
Putting Swing Part 2
Keeping
the head still during the golf swing by maintain the
curled position over the ball's recently vacated resting
spot, stare at the grass and listen to sound of the ball
dropping in the hole. If you look up, you are likely to
see an undesirable result anyway!
Because
the putting stroke calls for extreme precision, it is
imperative during the backstroke and follow through to
keep the head perfectly still. Any movement of the head
can immediately throw the putt a fraction of an inch off
line, which might result in a miss of a few feet by the
time the ball rolls 35 fee to the hole. Even on a short
putt, any slight movement of the head can result in the
ball hitting the edge of the hole and "lipping out, " as
golfers say, instead of rolling dead center into the
hole.
Keeping
the head still during the golf swing is a challenge for
everyone. When it comes to putting, the best assurance
of keeping the head still is to plan on listening for
the ball to drop into the hole, rather than on seeing
the ball go into the hole. In order to get used to this,
exaggerate the procedure at first. That is, stay down
and listen for the entire roll of putts as long as even
20 to 30 feet. Just maintain the curled position over
the ball's recently vacated resting spot, stare at the
beautiful grass that had been under the ball, and wait
to hear that even more beautiful sound of the ball
dropping in the hole. Remember, if you look up, you are
likely to see an undesirable result anyway!
