Pevero Golf Club - Sardinia, Italy

Pevero Golf Club is on the Costa Smeralda, the northeast coast of Sardinia developed by the Aga Khan as the playground for the international jet set. Designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1971 at the height of his career, Pevero is one of his grandest and most scenic creations. The course is laid out in two loops, rising and tumbling through a valley with the front nine curving around Pevero Bay and the back nine overlooking the beach of Cala di Volpe (Bay of Foxes). The fairways are hewn from the coastal rock and run through dwarf pine, broom, and gorse, with the ponds created by Trent Jones coming into play on the sixth and seventh and the 16th and 17th holes. From the fourth tee, with the green far below, the snow-capped mountains of Corsica can be seen across Pevero Bay.

Rungsted Golf Club - Denmark

Rungsted Golf Club, one of the most highly regarded courses in Denmark, is located 17 miles north of Copenhagen and within a mile of the coast. Rungsted opened in 1937, making it a relative newcomer compared to Copenhagen Golf Club, which was founded in an area known as Faelled in 1898, while the links at Fano dates from 1901. Designed by Major C.A. Mackenzie, Rungsted runs through groves of large beech trees and features small greens. The former home of Karen von Blixen, who wrote Out if Africa under the pen name Isak Dinesen, stands just a wedge shot away from the 13th hole and is now a museum dedicated to the author.
