Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita - Mexico
The Four
Seasons Resort Punta Mita is a shining example of
Jack Nicklaus's flair for designing Edenic courses
in tropical settings. The resort is spread out over
nearly 1,500 acres on a peninsula between the
Pacific and the Sierra Madre foothills some 45
minutes north of Puerto Vallerta. The course is
routed around a narrow point, with five holes
flirting with the Pacific, and three more wrapping
around Banderas Bay. Some 1,800 palm trees frame the
fairways, with waste bunkers of soft white sand. The
showstopper at Punta Mita, or "Tip of the Arrow," is
an optional 194-yard par-three hole, No. 3B, that
plays across the ocean to a featherbed of green on a
small rocky island. Golfers are ferried to the
island by an amphibious golf cart.
