Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort (KTGR)
is situated approximately 10km North of the township
Gong Badak, and some five minutes drive from the Sultan
Mahmud Airport. KTGR is also accessible by road and one
kilometer via the main road to Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
Owned and managed by KT Golf
Resort Berhad, a subsidiary of UDA Holdings Berhad, who
joint venture with the Town Council Authority -
Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Terengganu. The
resort comes with home sites for sales that has
overlooking views of the lake, the golf course or both.
KTGR's site was once a swamp and later a dump site for
fifteen years before it was transformed into a golfing
gem and the choice could never have been better. The
layout was created by an Australian company - Global
Golf Design Pty. Ltd., its Bermuda greens though
moderate in size are undulating and well guarded and are
fast by the wind
Par
is 72 and the 6285 meters 18-hole gentle layout is
characterized by the clever use of water hazards, 75
punishing bunkers that dots the course and lush palm
trees of the fairways. It offers four sets of teeing
area.
The front nine (known as Jembal
nine) are open, with water coming in play on four of the
holes. These features call for some careful shots. No.3
at 360 meters off the back tee is a notorious par-four.
The fourth, a long par-three at 214 meters plays into
the crosswind and you will need to steer away from water
on both sides of the fairways. The back nine (Nerus
nine) departs the open area for a more densely wooded
terrain. No 10th will raise many eyebrows - a lengthy
par-five of 517 meters dominated by water. The 18th, is
a fairly straightforward hole that commands a
magnificent view of the clubhouse.
This resort is about catering and
promoting golf as a sport, and to spur Malaysians from
the East Coast to become potential golfers fulfilling
UDA holding Berhad's goal in providing full recreational
facilities to the people.
