Kuala Kubu Bharu, north of Kuala
Lumpur, has for long been treated as a halfway 'rest
house' for those journeying to the cool mountain holiday
resort at Fraser's Hill. Situated at the foot of the
road leading to Fraser's Hill is the beautiful 18 Hole
Golf Club (6062m), which is fondly known as the KGCKKB.
This
71 par course is spread over 120 acres of land which was
formerly a rubber plantation and jungle. Therefore the
design of the course is designed with the natural
surroundings of the area in mind. The undulating nature
of the terrain gives the course a very hilly character,
which proves very challenging indeed. An inreresting
feature of the KGCKKB is that the club house and the
golf course are linked by a suspension bridge, which
makes the place very unique.
The course itself has very few
water hazards, but there are enough sand bunkers (40 all
together) on the fairways and around the greens to catch
the usual waywardness. The Serangoon greens are well
maintained and could pose some tricky problems to the
unwary golfer.
The second nine awaits golfers
with a series of slopes and beams, bunkers, tight
fairways and tricky greens. Not surprisingly, golfers
often get complimented if they finish the second nine
without losing any ball. KGCKKB is becoming popular and
is fast becoming a holiday retreat for those journeying
back to nature.
