Located some 10 Kilometers from
the centre of Kuching, capital city of Sarawak is Kelab
Golf Sarawak, which is more affectionately known as
'KGS' among the locals.
The main feature of Kelab Golf
Sarawak is its 36 holes golf course. It is the only
36-hole golf club in the Land of Hornbills. The Matang
Santubong course is named after two of Kuching's best
known mountains Santubong and Matang. The newly upgraded
6394 meters par 72 championship course comes with a
combination of undulating Paspalum fairways and
strategically positioned hazards, which provide a great
challenge to the course management skill of all golfers
KGS's
other 18-hole Siol/Demak is also a par 72 layout with a
slightly shorter length of 6224 meters. Considered less
difficult, this course requires golfers to be relatively
accurate off the tees as wayward shots to the right or
left would result in the ball landing into the many
water hazards fringing the Bermuda fairways as
exemplified by the par 3 - Siol
Hole 6.
In addition to golf, KGS also
offers a myriad of other facilities. The Club also house
an eight-lane Olympic size swimming pool. badminton,
squash and tennis complex, and of course the outstanding
pyramid shaped clubhouse with a range of other
facilities such as the library, snookerium, gymnasium
and not forgetting the Golfer's Terrace, the F&B outlet
which provides an astounding views for finishing holes
of the Matang and Santubong nine.
