Sri Menanti, Negeri Sembilan's Royal town, is situated about 25 kilometers from  Seremban and 11 kilometers from Kuala Pilah. This historically rich Royal town, a I rustic, quite idyllic town holds the sole distinction of having the only 18-holes golf course surrounded by three palaces.

The official palace of the Yang DiPertuan Besar, the Istana Besar, is located just next to the course, the other two palaces being-the Istana Perkasa Alam perched on the hill top, and the historical lstana Lama (now the Royal Museum), which stands just next to the Sri Menanti Resort. KDRSM owes its beginning to one personage - none other than His Royal highness. The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Jaafar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman himself, who is an avid golfer. The overall design and construction of the original nine-hole layouts was planned, implemented and  financed by His Royal Highness to liven up the town and to provide an avenue for local golfing buffs to answer the 'call of the fairways'.

After careful planning, a course design was evolved with the help of Donald Steel, an English architect, and construction began in 1981. Like the original Nine, the design of Sri Menanti 2899 meter par course new nine is the brainchild of His Royal Highness himself, with the technical support of local engineer Ir. K.K Lee and local gold course architect Muhamad Kamal Yassin, If you like a challenging golf outing with historical and natural kampung settings, KDRSM is the course to conquer.
