Costa Do Sauipe Golf Links and Commandatuba Ocean Course, Brazil

Costa Do Sauipe Golf Links - Brazil

Costa do Sauipe Golf Links is part of the Costa do Sauipe resort located in Brazil's northern state of Bahia, some 50 miles from the capital of Salvador. The sprawling, 425-acre resort with five hotels is set in the environmentally protected area of Costa dos Coqueiros, consisting of miles of mangroves, restingas or natural levees, dunes, freshwater lagoons, coconuts, and stretches of Atlantic forest. The golf course, opened in November 2000, was designed by Brian Costello of JMP Golf Design Group. The beautifully maintained course features views of the sea and fairways elegantly hemmed by the powdery littoral sand dunes.

Commandatuba Ocean Course - Brazil

The Commandatuba Ocean Course is a tropical idyll located on Ilha de Commandatuba off the coast of Brazil's Bahia province. Part of the Transamerica Ilha de Commandacuba Resort, the course, which opened in 2000, was designed by American Dan Blankenship, who is based in Brazil. The course is laid out on a flat spit of sand between the Atlantic beach and a mangrove swamp. The fairways run through scattered stands of centennial coconut trees, jupatis, and a patchwork of small lakes. The five finishing holes all skirt the beach, with fairways and greens stenciled on the surrounding sandy waste areas. The course is inhabited by capuchin monkeys, exotic birds, foxes, and anteaters.
