Entrada At Snow Canyon Golf Course - Utah, U.S.A.
Entrada, which is Spanish for
entrance, is located in St. George, in the color
country of southwestern Utah. The course lies at the
base of the rugged and ruddy Navajo and Kayenta
sandstone cliffs near the mouth of Snow Canyon.
Opened in September 1996, Entrada was designed by
golf legend turned television commentator Johnny
Miller with Fred Bliss. The course is built on 700
acres of desert floor. Several of the holes play
along the rust-colored cliffs, others wind through a
desert wash lined with mesquite and reedy water
holes, while three holes run through the ancient
beds of scarred black lava.
Green Spring Golf Course - Utah, U.S.A.
Green Spring
Golf Course is a public layout in Washington City,
near St. George, in the southwestern corner of Utah.
Designed by Gene Bates and opened in 1991, the
course is sculpted through tessellated red rocks,
with holes playing over canyons the color of smoky
rubies and ponds lined with tall marsh grasses. Pine
Valley Mountain hovers above the course to the
north, and the mountains of Zion National Park loom
further in the distance to the east. Washington City
was founded by 38 Mormon families, all originally
from southern states, who made the great trek west
to Salt Lake, and were asked by Brigham Young to
grow cot ton in southern Utah-the so-called Cotton
Mission. Washington City was the first of the cotton
settlements along the basin of the Virgin River,
earning the region the name of Utah's Dixie.
