Designed by Ted Robinson. This
course is part of a housing development, so players
who tend to hit the ball long and wrong will find
themselves in the trees or out-of-bounds on all but
a few holes. The front nine is fairly level but the
back nine is mountain goat territory. The greens are
average size and undulating. Reciprocal play with
other members-only clubs is allowed. From San Diego
(about 18 miles north to the course): Take I-15
north, exit at Rancho Bernardo Road, and head east.
The entrance is on the left after about two and
one-half miles.

Designed by Jim Summers, Sandy
Tatum, Johnny Miller, Fred Bliss. This is two
different golf courses. There are ten holes on the
flats, with forced carries, mounding, water hazards
and drainage ditches. The other eight holes are up
in the oak-covered hills, with little water, lots of
trees, severe elevations changes, small greens, and
gorgeous views. Stone Tree does not have a driving
range. Carts are included in green fees. From San
Francisco (about 30 miles north to the course): Take
US 101 north to Highway 37 east for two and one-half
miles. Take the Black Point/Atherton Avenue exit.
Take a right to the driveway. From Novato north, and
west of Napa, this is the only true upscale daily
fee course left in the area. Immaculate conditioning
and beautiful scenery place this course in the top
of the list for the North Bay. The better player
will find the course a little disjointed. Too many
great cooks (designers) in the kitchen don't
necessarily make a fantastic layout.
