William P. Bell. This is a open, level course with
elevated and undulating greens. There is plenty of
out-of-bounds, but you almost have to work to hit
out. From Dublin (about 12 miles east to the
course): Drive east on I-580 to the Springtown
Boulevard exit and go north. Turn right on to
Bluebell Drive. Bluebell Drive turns into Larkspur
Drive.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones
Sr. This is an exacting, demanding, and exigent golf
course. It's really hard. After opening with five
holes out in the ocean view and sand, the course
retreats quietly back into the forest. Back there,
the only sounds you hear are the cries of desperate
golfers trying to make par. OK, we are exaggerating
just a little bit. The truth is, this is a
spectacular layout, set on rolling terrain, with
ocean holes, forest holes, and elevated, sloping
greens. Members only for tee times before 10 a.m.
Caddies are available. From within Monterey: Take
the Pebble Beach exit off Highway 1. Follow the
signs to the Pebble Beach gate. The guard gives
further directions from there. There are more than a
few golfers who regard Spyglass Hill as a better
course than Pebble Beach. It certainly tends to play
more difficult. Spyglass is definitely a must-play
for any golf.
