Designed by William F. Bell. Narrow tree-lined fairways and hilly terrain characterize this classic design, which ranks among Southern California's best courses. Reciprocal play with other members-only clubs is allowed. From Ventura (about 17 miles southeast to the course): Take US 101 south to the Central Avenue exit. Drive north two miles to Santa Clara Avenue. Turn right and travel just over a mile to Los Angeles Avenue and turn left. Proceed one-half mile to the club. A friendly unpretentious club with an excellent golf course.

CENTRAL COAST REGION

Municipal - 9 hole - cost: $7 - $13

1025 South Wells Road, Ventura, CA 93004

Tel: (805) 647-6678

Designed by George C. Thomas Jr. If the the words "out-of-bounds" give you the jitters, this may not be your course; fences can be found on nearly every hole. When you mix in some trees and oldschool, level greens, it means accuracy is the name of the game at Saticoy. From downtown Los Angeles (about 65 miles northwest to the course): Take US 101 north to Highway126 east. Exit onto Wells Road and turn right.
