Designed by William F. Bell. Dubbed "the
mid-income person's Pebble Beach," by In The Loop
Golf, this layout plays on a coastal plateau high
above the Pacific, with gorgeous views of the ocean
and the mountains. From Santa Barbara (about 17
miles northwest to the course): Take US 101 north.
Take the Winchester Canyon Road/Hollister Avenue
exit. Turn left at the stop sign and go over the
freeway. Drive one-half mile on Hollister Avenue to
the course, which is on the right. The back nine is
the story. Holes 10 through 14 are set along the
ocean and are better than anything Ocean Trails and
Pelican Hill can offer.

Designed by Ron Garl. Sands is
a great place for beginners and those who want to
break 80 but don't have the game to do it on a
regulation course. The course is short, with few
trees and generous fairways. We must report, despite
the name, there is no sand. From downtown Los
Angeles (about 110 miles east to the course): Take
I-10 east, exit at Palm Drive, and head north. Make
a right on Dillon Road and drive one mile to
Bubbling Wells Road. The course is on the corner.
