Designed by John Duncan Dunn, Gerald Pirkl (redesign). This is a flat course with water coming into play on four holes. Many trees line the fairway, and the crowned greens are average in size. From downtown Los Angeles (about 18 miles southeast to the course): Take I-5 south to the Long Beach Freeway (I-710) south. Exit at Firestone and go east. Turn left on Old River School Road. The course is on the left.

Designed by Peter Jacobsen. Rio la Paz is a meadow course. The landing areas are generous, with trees and water occasionally coming into play. With the exception of one hole, there was very little mounding or earth moved to produce this layout. From Sacramento (about 25 miles north to the course): Take I-5 north to Highway 99 north. Take the Nicolaus exit, turn left onto Garden Highway, and follow that to the course. There is not much here to keep the better golfer entertained. Rio la Paz is better suited for family golf.
