Designed by Pat J. Markovich. This old course is short, with large eucalyptus and pine trees, tight fairways, and tiny, sloping greens. Making par is more difficult than meets the eye. Reciprocal play with other members-only clubs is allowed. From San Francisco (about 20 miles northeast to the course): Take I-80 east and exit at Richmond Parkway. Go about four miles, exit on Giant Highway, and turn right. Turn on Markovich Lane.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. This is an interesting course, the equal of any of the area's private clubs. Large oaks, rock outcroppings and meandering creeks give the layout a mature feel. The Ridge is only 300 yards from the Auburn Airport, and the staff at the Ridge is happy to pick up golfers. From Sacramento (about 40 miles east to the course): Take I-80 east to the Bell Road exit in Auburn. Go north on Bell Road almost two miles. Make a right on New Airport Road and another right on Golf Course Road. The course receives high marks from our contributors for value, design, and service.
