Designed by unknown. A pitch-and-putt with
personality. Presidio Hills is home to the Junior
(eight and under) World Championship. What is now
the clubhouse was built in the 1820s and is the
oldest adobe building in San Diego. From within
San Diego: Take the I-8 east, exit on Taylor Street,
and go south. Turn left on Juan and the course is on
the left. Want to play golf with the entire
family and not go broke? Presidio Hills is worth
playing just for a chance to check out the scrapbook
of all the famous juniors who have played here. The
list includes Tiger, Mickelson, Price, and many
others.

Designed by Tom Fazio. A fortune was spent crafting
the flat desert and importing trees to build these
two courses. While the stylized Tom Fazio bunkering
is similar on each course, as is the wind, the Lakes
Course incorporates a traditional layout, lots of
trees, and
--
you guessed it -- man-made lakes. The Desert Course
features cacti, waste areas, and plenty of bunkers.
The yardage listed is for the Desert Course.
Carts are mandatory and included in green fees. From the Las Vegas Airport (about 42 miles southwest
to the course): Take
I-15
south. This course is at the
California/Nevada border. Exit at Yates Well Road
and head north. These are two solid courses. The
higher handicapper may prefer the Desert Course
because there are fewer places to lose golf balls.
