This is an often overlooked gem - scenic, with a few
challenges, but not too difficult. The fairways are
generous and the length modest, allowing the average
golfer a chance at a good score. From Monterey
(about 25 miles north to the course): Take Highway 1
north. Turn right at the blinking light at Salinas
Road. The clubhouse is on the right.
This is a
perfect golf stop midway between
Santa Cruz and Monterey - fun golf. There are some
pretty water holes and lots of trees, but not much
of a break if you are hitting off the ladies' tees.

Designed by Dick Rossen,
William Johnson. You might want to practice a few
putts before you head out. This is a tight course
off the tee, where you find yourself driving out of
tree-lined chutes to the fairway. Keeping it
straight doesn't guarantee you an easy day or a low
score. Unlike many resort courses, the greens here
are fast, challenging, and will punish a weak
putter. If you are last-minute traveler, check their
website, you can find a some good deals. Carts are
included in the green fees. From San Diego (about 48
miles north to the course): Take I-15 north to
Highway 76 west. Soon after, turn right (north) on
Old Highway 395. Follow Old Highway 395 for a couple
of miles. The resort is on the left.
