Designed by Harry Rainville,
David Rainville. This is a family-oriented golf
course. The fairways are lined by oak and pine
trees, but are generous in width. A creek runs
through all nine holes. The greens are small and
flat, with subtle breaks. Place the ball in the
middle of the greens and birdies will be your
reward. From Santa Barbara (about 17 miles northwest
to the course): Take US 101 north to the Glen
Annie/Storke exit. Drive south one mile to Whittier
Drive and turn right.
OCEAN TRAILS GOLF CLUB
(1999)
LOS ANGELES REGION
Public - 18 hole - cost: $70 - $120
One Ocean Trails Drive, Rancho Palos
Verdes, CA 90275
Tel:
(877) 799-4653
Designed by Pete Dye. Dynamic ocean views,
dramatic bunkering, and an interesting layout will
soon make Ocean Trails a classic. The course's name
will be changed to Trump National - Los Angeles.
Ocean Trails currently does not have a driving
range. From downtown Los Angeles (about 27 miles
south to the course): Take the Harbor Freeway
(I-110) south until it ends. Turn left on Gaffey
Street and right on First Street. Turn left on
Western and then right on 25th. Go two and one-half
miles to Ocean Trails Drive. Ocean Trails (Trump
National
-
Los
Angeles) offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean
on every hole. For a course set on only 110 acres,
the club should allow walking. Not in the same class
as Pete Dye's other L.A. course (Lost Canyons), due
to a limited amount of land, but still a great golf
experience.
