Designed by Russell Neyes, AI Lape, Robert Muir
Graves (remodel). This Audubon-certified course was
hit hard by a disease that affected many of the pine
trees that lined the fairways. A treeplanting
effort is already underway. With that said, Morro
Bay actually affords even more spectacular views of
the ocean than before. This hilly course is best
known for its small, tricky greens. Optical
illusions often have golfers playing the breaks in
the opposite direction. From San Luis Obispo (about
15 miles northwest to the course): From US 101, exit
Highway 1 toward Morro Bay. Exit onto Morro Bay
Boulevard. Turn left on Main Street. After entering
the park, turn left on State Park Road. The course
is on the left. Morro Bay has some excellent par 4s
and tough par 3s.

course with a river running through four holes and
ponds coming into play on two more. The greens are
small and sloping. As many as 60 trees have been
planted over the last few years. From Truckee (about
85 miles northwest to the course): Off I-80, take
Highway 89 north to Crescent Mills. The course is
located at the Taylorsville Junction.
