Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. This is a target golf course with great views, rolling hills, trees, and an abundance of fairway and green-side bunkers. The course may appear short from a yardage standpoint, but remember it is a par 70. Don't under-club unless you brought lots of golf balls. Carts are included in the green fees. From Irvine (about 25 miles south to the course): Take I­405 south to I-5 south, exit at Crown Valley Parkway, and head west. Turn left on Niguel Road. Monarch Beach is on the right, after about three and one-half miles. There is not too terribly much to distinguish this hilly course from the other area layouts - That is, until you get in sight of the ocean, where the view is spectacular. All in all, an enjoyable resort course.
