Designed by Homer Flint. This is a well-maintained mountain course with narrow tree-lined fairways and large sloping greens. In July and August public play is not permitted until after 3 p.m. From Chico (about 80 miles northeast to the course): Take Highway 32 east about 55 miles to Highway 36. Make a right on Highway 36 and follow it to Chester. Turn right on County Road A 13 (Walker Road) and then another right on Clifford Drive to the gate.

Designed by Homer Flint. The biggest obstacle to scoring well at Almanor West is the large sloping greens, which can be tricky to read. The fairways are surrounded by trees but are large enough to hit driver. Views of Mount Lassen can be seen throughout the nine holes. From Chico (about 75 miles northeast to the course): Take Highway 32 east about 55 miles to Highway 36. Turn right on Highway 36 to Highway 89. At Highway 89, go south to Lake Almanor West. Turn left on Slim Drive.
