Designed by Lawrence Hughes. The course has hosted both the Bob Hope and Old CBS Golf Classic when there were few trees or houses around. Now the course has matured into one of the best in the area. It combines narrow fairways, smallish greens, and sufficient length to challenge any player. From downtown Los Angeles (about 130 miles east to the course): Take I-10 east, exit on Washington Street, and go south. After crossing Highway 111, turn right on Avenue 50. The club is on the right. One would hardly believe that this course once had hardly any trees or homes around it.

LA QUINTA RESORT & CLUB: CITRUS COURSE (1987)

DESERT REGION

Members only: 18 hole

50-503 Mandarina Street, La Quinta, GA 92253

Designed by Pete Dye. Of the three La Ouinta courses, this is the easiest to conquer. Cut out of an orchard, the course has plenty of trees, but they do not make the fairways narrow enough to take the driver out of your hands. Citrus has lots of water and sand, which make it picturesque; but neither the water nor the sand will intimidate golfers who have any command of their swing. From downtown Los Angeles (about 130 miles east to the course): Take I-10 east, exit on Jefferson Street, and head south.
