Designed by David Ginkel (redesign). Indian
Springs has a Championship Course and a ninehole
par-3 course. The Championship Course winds through
a housing development with open fairways and plenty
of opportunity to hit the ball into the drink. Carts
are included in the green fees and mandatory. From
downtown Los Angeles (about 130 miles east to the
course): Take I-10 east, exit at Jefferson Street,
and head south to the club. The club is on the
right. By desert standards Indian Springs is a
bargain. Come for the golf, not the views, unless
you are looking for a new home.

Designed by Robert Nyberg. Indian Valley is a
mature course with plenty of native oaks. Many of
the fairways are rolling, and there are a few steep
ones as well. Indian Valley boasts a 15,000square-foot green, the largest in
Marin County. From San Francisco (about 30 miles
north to the course): Take US 101 north. Take the
San Marin Drive exit west to Novato Boulevard. Turn
right on Novato Boulevard. The course is on the
left. On the ninth green I putted three feet past
the hole and made the putt. How? The ball rolled
back down the hill into the cup, and along with it
came five skins from my angry playing partners.
Silly green site but, hey, it works for me. This is
not an easy walking course.
