Designed
by Robert Muir Graves, Damian Pascuzzo. This is a
player-friendly course with some excellent ocean
views. Several of the par 4s are drivable for the
long hitter. If you miss the fairway, you may find
yourself in fescue rough, which can be quite
irritating but not disastrous. The environmentally
sensitive areas, on the other hand, can cost you
several strokes. Be prepared for a breeze.
The golf carts are
equipped with Par View GPS systems. The course is a
certified Audubon Cooperative
Sanctuary. From Santa Barbara (about eight miles
northwest to the course): Take US 101 north to the
Glen Annie Road off-ramp, heading north. Go for
one-half mile to the entry gate on the left. This
course is built upon some challengingly hilly
terrain so local knowledge is helpful. There are two
fun, drivable par' 4s for long hitters, but the rest
of the course is a challenge and affords many
gorgeous views of the ocean.

unknown. Glenbrook has long been considered one of
the West's best nine-hole golf courses. The fairways
seem more like dark, narrow corridors, over which
the trees touch. Tiny, tricky greens make this short
layout much more challenging than you could imagine.
From South lake Tahoe (about 11 miles north to the
course): Take US 50 east. About two and one-half
miles, after traveling through the tunnel, there is
a sign for Glenbrook. The gate is on the left.
Sometimes special things come simply wrapped in
small packages; witness Glenbrook. The late Ben
Hogan was
fond
of the layout
though reportedly he never bettered par.
