Designed by unknown. This is a short, executive course with small, fast greens. A pond comes into play on one hole. From San Jose (about 30 miles south to the course): Take US 101 south to Gilroy. Take the Monterey Street exit and turn left. Take a left on Thomas Road and then another left on Santa Teresa Boulevard. Turn right into the second entrance to Gavilan College.

Designed by unknown. Except for four holes, this is a relatively level course with many doglegs, which favors the golfer who works the ball left to right. Water comes into play on four holes, and there are plenty of out-of-bounds and trees to keep you entertained - or frustrated. From within Riverside: Off I-215 south, exit at Van Buren and head west. Turn left on Village West Drive. The course is on the left. At around $30 for the most expensive green fee, price and value will not be an issue at General Old, but the same cannot be said for pace of play. The course has been known to let out fivesomes.
