DIAMOND OAKS GOLF COURSE (1963)

GOLD COUNTRY REGION

Municipal: 18 hole -cost: $25 - $32

349 Diamond Oaks Road, Roseville, CA 95678

Tel: (916) 783-4947

Designed by Ted Robinson. Diamond Oaks features rolling fairways with plenty of oak trees. The course is not punishing, but the trees can make club selection interesting. The course is very popular, so a website: uick afternoon round is not going to happen. For the amount of play Diamond Oaks sees, the course is usually in good condition. From Sacramento (about 20 miles east to the course): Take l-80 east to Highway 65 and go north toward Marysville. Take the Stanford Ranch/Galleria exit. Follow Galleria to Roseville Parkway. Make a right on Roseville Parkway and then a left on Reserve. Take a right on Diamond Oaks Road to the course.

DIAMOND VALLEY GOLF CLUB (1999)

INLAND EMPIRE REGION

Public - 18 hole -cost: $25 - $41

31220 Sage Road, Hemet, CA 92543

Tel: (951) 767-0828

Designed by Magnuson & Martin. If you arrive a half hour before your tee time and can't decide between the range and the putting green, choose the putting green. The course uses the natural, rolling terrain to create a layout that is not long, but challenges your shot-making, golf management, and patience. The greens are undulating and fast, and if you miss off the edges, getting up and down will be no easy task. You can often find special rates on their website. From San Bernardino (about 48 miles southeast to the course): Take l-10 east to Highway 79 south. Highway 79 turns into Sanderson. Turn left on Domenigoni and then right on State. There are signs from there.
