Designed by Charles Maud. Depending on who you talk to, this 100-year-old layout may be the oldest in the state. Owned by the Pebble Beach Resort, this flat but charming course uses its natural simplicity to create an enjoyable round of golf. The course has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top courses over 100 years old. From within Monterey: Take Highway 1 south and take the two exit-only lanes toward Monterey. Make a left on Aguajito Road and head back under the freeway. Turn left at Mark Thomas Drive, then turn right on Joslyn Canyon and, finally, right on Sylvan Road to the course. If you are spending any length of time in Monterey, you should plan on adding this fun course to your mix if for nothing else, to give your wallet a rest.

Designed by unknown. The course has several doglegs lined with redwood trees, but all in all, the fairways are fairly broad. A creek comes into play on two holes. The greens tend to break toward the clubhouse. From within Crescent City: Off US 101, take Highway 199 east. After the bridge, turn left on Highway 197. Club Drive and the course are on the right.
