Designed by O.W. Morman, A.C. Sears. The Ivanhoe is the more interesting and preferred of the two courses. It is spacious, but several doglegs, Kikuyu rough, and trees will test your skills. The Monte Vista Course is shorter and tighter and has excellent, soft greens that allow players to go after pins. The yardage listed is for the Ivanhoe Course. The course allows fivesomes if they take a cart. From San Diego (about 20 miles east to the course): Take I-8 east to the Second Street exit. Turn right and head south about four miles. Turn left on Willow Glen.

Designed by William F. Bell. This is a well-conditioned golf course with wide rolling fairways and medium-sized greens that have mild undulations. To shoot a low number at Rancho Bernardo, you must be selective on which holes you want to be aggressive. From San Diego (about 20 miles north to the course): Travel north on I-15. Take the Rancho Bernardo Road exit east. Drive one mile to Bernardo Oaks Drive. Turn left and follow to the entrance of the inn; bear right to the country club.
