Designed by John Hilborn. Some of the best
courses have nothing to do with course layout or
conditioning. This nine-hole course provides junior
golfers a chance to learn the game and improve
themselves on and off the course. From downtown Los
Angeles (about 20 miles southeast to the course):
Take I-5 south to the Long Beach Freeway (I-710)
south. Exit at Alondra and turn right. Turn right on
Atlantic and right again on Compton Boulevard.

Designed by members, Robert Muir Graves
(remodel). A short course with no water, how hard
can it be? Not very, if you hit the ball perfectly
straight and avoid the trees and rough. Even if you
hit it straight, you may encounter some difficult
lies on undulating fairways. Make sure you don't hit
the ball above the hole, or you'll rarely make the
putt. One last thing: the course tends to play much
longer than the scorecard indicates. Reciprocal play
with other members-only clubs is allowed. From
Walnut Creek (about five miles north to the course):
Take I-680 north. Exit on Concord Avenue. Turn left
on Diamond and then left again on Concord Avenue.
Turn left on Contra Costa Road and then turn right
onto Golf Club Road.
