BIGHORN GOLF CLUB

Palowet Drive, Palm Desert, CA 92260

Designed by Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills. The Canyons
Course appears challenging, but plays easier than
its sister course, which is very difficult. The
Hills Course boasts splendid views of the Coachella
Valley and some demanding desert holes. The course
meanders among housing. A cart is required because
of long distances between holes. The yardage listed
is for the Canyons Course. From downtown Los Angeles
(about 120 miles east to the course): Go east on
I-10 toward Palm Springs. Exit on Monterey Avenue
and turn right. This turns into Highway 74. The club
is visible from Highway 74. The Hills Course offers
some spectacular holes, but fails because of
disconcerting distances between greens and tees. The
Canyons Course is not the best Fazio course in the
area, but is rather pleasing to the eye and the
scorecard. This upscale club features overwhelming
service and first-rate facilities.

Designed by unknown. Built in 1920, this is an
open meadow course surrounded by trees. With no
hidden obstacles and no holes longer than 300 yards,
this is an excellent place for the whole family to
golf. This is the oldest nine-hole course in South
Tahoe. From Sacramento (about 100 miles east to the
course): Take US 50 east into South lake Tahoe. Turn
right on Johnson Boulevard. Turn left on Fairway
Avenue, which leads to the course.
