Designed by Don Harling. Beau Pre combines mountainous hills with meadow golf, and most of the fairways are surrounded by tall trees. Although the course offers magnificent views of the ocean, you don't have to worry about hitting it into the Pacific. You do have to avoid the water that is found on half the holes. If you haven't guessed by now, the course requires precision on every shot. From Eureka (about 15 miles north to the course): Take US 101 north toward McKinleyvilie. Then exit onto Murray Road. Drive north on Central Avenue. The course is on Norton Road.

It has been greatly altered from its original George Thomas design, but remains a favorite of celebrities and movers and shakers. From west Los Angeles: Off the San Diego Freeway (I-405), exit at Sunset Boulevard and head east. Turn left on Bellagio Road. This leads to the Bel Air West Gate. At the fork, bear to the right.
