Designed by Bob Baldock. Near the coast and set
among redwood trees, this is a scenic course that
will test even the most capable golfer. Because of
the dense air and fog, the ball will not carry as
far as you think. Water comes into play on one-third
of the holes. In general the course is tight, but
the back nine fairways are especially slim, with
trees protecting both sides. Reciprocal play with
other members-only clubs is allowed. From Eureka
(about eight miles north to the course): Take US 101
north, exit at Sunny Brae, and turn right (east). At
the second roundabout, Buttermilk lane, follow it to
the left and the course.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus. This is one of Jack
Nicklaus's early designs in California. Water,
strategically placed trees, bunkers, and large,
deceptive greens compose a complete challenge. Bear
Creek hosted the 1985 Skins Game. From downtown Los
Angeles (about 80 miles southeast to the club):
Take I-10 east to I-15 south. Exit at Clinton Keith
Road and turn right. The entrance is on the right
after about one and one-half miles. Being one of Nicklaus's early works, he misfigured the wind
direction in setting the direction and length of
some holes. Otherwise, it's strong layout.
