Golf Swing -
Coiling Action
Weight
Transfer occurs with a coiling acting of the body.
The
above weight transfer occurs with a coiling action of
the body, as opposed to a swaying action. Imagine one's
hips turning in a barrel or the body movement of a
pitcher throwing a slightly underhand, sidearm pitch.
The golfer stays centered over the ball, rotating around
some central reference point such as the spine or the
sternum. Keeping one's head in position, as discussed
earlier, contributes nicely to this coiling movement.
Relaxation
Relax
during all the actions and steps during golf swing.
The last
key component is to relax during all this action. This
is not to suggest merely relaxing and having a good
time. Rather, the body must be relaxed to the extent
that it can flow fluidly though the coiling weight shift
described above. Proper relaxation contributes to the
maximum generation of power and accuracy. Said another
way, the golf swing will have the most snap and pop to
it, if it is relaxed through that exhilarating moment of
focused energy at impact with the ball. The swing will
also be ore likely to stay on line toward the target.
